Integrated Solutions

Overview

The Integrated Solutions Group is a business unit within KGP that is focused on product development, integration services, custom assembly and manufacturing for carriers, service providers and OEM’s. Our integration and manufacturing centers support multi-vender environments and have the capacity, systems, and processes that support production and deployment of fully integrated, configured, and tested systems. These services provide efficiencies which reduce time-to-market and result in reduced cost and improved profitability to our customers.

Our national presence includes warehousing, manufacturing and integration space strategically located throughout the US to provide nationwide support.

KGP has taken an important step in the commitment to quality by implementing both ISO 9001:2000 and TL9000 Registration. This achievement demonstrates our commitment to continual improvement in quality.

Factory Installed Termination System (FITS)

A Factory Installed Termination System (FITS) would send a completed, distribution-feeder cabling network on a reel directly from the factory to the field installation site. Fiber optic drop cables are factory terminated to a fiber distribution cable creating a plug-n-play system that eliminates installation steps in the field. Quality is also improved because the entire FITS system is tested before cable reels are shipped. The result is significant cost savings in
construction, and improved reliability and operation.

FITS Features:

  • Reduced total cost of ownership
  • Quick deployment allows rapid turn-up of enhanced services
  • Permits end-to-end testing before FITS is shipped to the field
  • Eliminates costly field inventory holding costs
  • Promotes increases in field installation productivity
  • Minimizes network installation expense
  • High quality factory termination maximizes network performance
  • Reliability lowers system maintenance cost over time
  • Full factory warranty against manufacturing defects
  • Meets or exceeds stringent Telcordia testing standards

High-Density Protection Frames

Today, telephone engineers are facing new challenges outside the central office. The central office is becoming decentralized into controlled environmental vault (CEV), huts and customer premise locations. This OSP environment presents new challenges to telephone engineers for their design must find space for all network equipment within the confines of CEV or huts. We are helping communications engineers meet the demands of the marketplace by offering new, high-density protection products to meet their needs in this special environment.

The PDA system is a breakthrough in high-density protection systems for small central office, CEVs, huts and customer premise applications. The PDA assembly is modular in design so you can order it to fit current bulk protection requirements and order drawers and wired connectors as needed for growth with minimum effort. You can choose from a variety of individual components and order the system pre-assembled to meet the specific needs for you application. Basic components include: frames, pull drawers, cable splice facility, connectors and specialized cross-connect panels.

Retrofit Frames

All PDA Frames can be special ordered in a retrofit model to replace outgrown or outdated frames that are currently in service in CEV’s huts or customer premise locations. Please contact your PDA applications support engineer for assistance.

Pre-stubbed Cross-Connect Interface

During the factory process the aerial cross-connect interface is pre-stubbed with an OSP copper cable and the blocks are terminated and fully tested. This eliminates costly, time-consuming on-site cable preparation, stub installation and block termination by the network operator.

The 3M 4295 cabinets' unique modular design allows you to customize the termination system for your specific needs. They can be fitted with either the Self-Strip or Modular Hardwire System. Cross-Connect Cabinets are available in 100- to 2700-pair versions

Custom Kitting Services

Competitive pressures are forcing many service providers to look for ways to streamline operations, reduce time to market and lower inventories. Let us help reduce your costs and increase productivity by designing a customized kitting solution for you.

Multi-vendor kitting or staging allows customers to order products from several vendors with one part number and one purchase order. You provide the list of components and we pre-package that list for you from our inventory, complete with your part number. We can kit everything for your project in one shipment, one package, on time.

  • Reduce inventory
  • Decrease purchasing time and paperwork
  • Minimize labor in picking components
  • Simplified inventory control
  • Single shipment with all materials in one package
  • Shorter lead times
  • Achieve faster time to market

Pre-terminated Jumper Assemblies

In 1978 our first product offering was a pre-terminated jumper assembly.
Our first customers for this new product were service providers that required fast reconfiguration of existing cable splices and quick restoration of cut cables during telephone service outages.

Today, we are the leading provider of pre-terminated jumper assemblies to network providers.

Custom Cable Assembly

We can be your one source for all your standard and custom cable and wire harness assembly needs. Throughout our history we have been providing high quality connectivity solutions to the computer, communications, wireless and utility industries. If you are in the design stages of your cabling solution, we can provide engineering assistance and prototyping. If your requirements are already specified and ready for quote, we are uniquely positioned to meet your deadlines as well as your price targets.

Transition Cables

Transition cable is a factory-terminated stub that is used to transition from buried or underground cables to ground level random access closures or cabinets used as cross connect systems. Cable wires are cleaned of all filling compound and terminated with 3M MS2™ or 710 modules.

  • Eliminates need to order cross-connect boxes with pre-assembled stubs
  • Eliminates on site cleaning of filling compound from wires
  • Factory terminated stubs provide filled cable to the actual point of termination, eliminating potential water intrusion
  • Pre-cut custom length eliminates cable waste
